The Evolution of Storytelling

I’ve been fascinated by storytelling all my life, writing poetry as a kid, songs as a young man, and books and screenplays as I got older.

After nine years as a library director, I took notice as Artificial Intelligence began to shift the tectonic plates of creativity. While many saw a threat, I saw new possibilities, a collaborator unlike any I’d had before.

Rather than just theorize about it, I thought I’d build with it, noting the profound, silly, and frustrating experiences along the way. As proof of concept, I used generative tools to iterate a story, draft writing, and design the cover of a complete novel in four weeks. The speed of imagination is changing, but the results rely heavily upon human skill and taste.

Circuit & Scribe is the beginning of this exploration. As I move toward my MBA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, my focus is shifting from the creative process to the business infrastructure behind it. I hope to build the systems that will allow authors, artists, and businesses to scale their creative output without losing their human soul.
